Dear Elders, Sisters and Brothers,

It has just been two years since the beginning of a new decade and Nigerians have lost so much from insecurity, inflation and of course COVID-19 - causing loss of loved ones and making many poorer.

As you are aware, this year ends with the very sad news for Nigeria's political development: The President has withheld his assent to the Electoral Act's Amendments, including Electronic Transmission of Results and Direct Primaries for Political Parties. While some of the amendments may divide opinions but there is overwhelming consensus that these are needed to encourage active citizens' participation in politics in our national development and political journey. It is obvious that the new amendments would have made significant changes to the Nigerian political landscape.

When the BOOT Party started few years ago, we clearly defined in our Constitution that ONLY Direct Primaries will be allowed for all party elections. BOOT Party as a Technology And People (TAP) driven organisation is enabled by a very powerful technology platform that allows all Party events, including Direct Voting at Primary Elections, which provides unhindered opportunity for all qualifying members to vote and ensuring transparency.

This political decision and One Working Nigeria (OWN) Agenda and distinct strategy to address the problems of Nigeria are what clearly separate BOOT Party from others. We understand that MONEY POLITICS and 'STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE' are the bane of our electoral process in Nigeria and these remain the greatest challenge to voting our conscience and putting credible people in leadership position through the ballot box. It is our fervent belief that if we, as Nigerians keep doing it the same way (allowing thugs, criminals and money-bags to buy our conscience), we will keep getting same obnoxious results. The BOOT Party remains the ONLY registered political party in Nigeria that conducts all its elections by direct method.

Despite challenges of funding, you - party members, have kept developing the party by volunteering your time and financial resources in the last twelve months. Membership have increased by over Eighty Percent (80%) from 2020 and Seven States (Akwa Ibom; Rivers; Sokoto; Osun; Kano; Kebbi; and Delta) Congresses were completed with State Executives sworn-in. In addition, we participated in the Anambra State Governorship Election as well as the Local Government Elections in Sokoto and Rivers States. What you have achieved is really impressive! I would like to thank each and every one of you and I am sure that you would do great again in the new year and beyond.

2022 is the full year before the next General Elections. The choice is starker now than ever before. It is my hope that all Nigerians will take our destiny into our own hands and write our destiny and that of our unborn generations. However, we need the Electoral Act amended to 'make voting compulsory by law' in Nigeria (Follow this link to read summary of this study Make Voting Compulsory by Law in Nigeria.) Doing this, and over time, we would have imbued in vast majority of Nigerians revolutionary change of political attitude that will eventually herald an egalitarian Nigerian society. Irrespective of your political leaning, look yourself in the eyes and say that what we have currently is a democracy. In the long term no Nigerian benefits in what we currently have, not even those who hold the lever of leadership. Every position in life is transient, what we all have is what you and I have.

We shall start 2022 with Katsina State Congress among others and following on to BOOT Party National Conference in the 2nd Quarter of 2022 leading on to our participation in 2023 General Elections. Please look out for Party announcements. The strength of our Party lies in your commitment to have meaningful impact on Nigerians; your ambition to serve Nigerians in Excellence; the way you symbolise BOOT Party values. I have no doubt that we will all succeed as we continue to forge ahead with this mindset.

On behalf of the National Executive Committee, I wish you and your loved ones a safe, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Thank you and God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Happy New Year!
