Truth be told, wealthy Nigerians including some government officials have always resorted to self-help when it comes to their personal security. They use scarce Police resources to protect themselves and members of their families while hapless Nigerians have no options than to engage in sub-legal or outright illegal means such as vigilantism and mob treatment of perceived or apprehended criminals. This is the current situation across our country. Nigerians must engage the governments in a very serious dialogue to fashion out a sustainable way of redressing insecurity instead of unnecessary distractions of who has or does not have the right to protect the citizens.
The BOOT Party is calling on the federal government and other stakeholders to hold a summit and agree on the pre-conditions or minimum criteria and limitations for setting up a government-sponsored (local, state and regional) security outfit such as "Amotekun"
